This past Sunday service our UU congregation was treated to a sermon by visiting aspiring UU minister Daniel Lawlor who is a first year Master’s in Divinity student at Boston University’s School of Theology. Daniel and his wife, Yumi spent the weekend on Nantucket hosted by Susan and Peter Richards. Daniel delivered a thought-provoking sermon titled “Love and Fear,” a meditation on how we as Unitarian Universalists have an opportunity to embody love in community. In honor of Women in History month, Daniel focused on three women in particular who have impacted our UU and beyond community…. The service included a delightful story for all ages told by Daniel and featuring the acting talents of Eva and Rowan Blake along with some beautiful musical offerings provided by Mollie Glazer and her son Isaiah, on spring break from Eastman Music School. Beginning this coming Sunday, Rev Linda will be returning to the pulpit after a working vacation in the southwest. We have missed her and look forward to welcoming her back and hearing about her time away! We have been very fortunate during her time away to have three very talented and unique guest speakers presenting three very individual sermons - Johanna Murphy spoke about “The Hour of Separation” and what transformation as a calling in our current climate looks like, Katie Byron gave us “Made for This” which addressed the things we may be “made to do” but which aren’t always as easy as we think they are going to be; and of course Daniel this week inspiring us with his sermon, readings and poetry. Three fascinating offerings enjoyed by all congregants who were able to attend these services. This Sunday: the return of Rev Linda and her sermon on the “Borderless Crossings” where she will explore her learnings of hiking in the Arizona desert and working at Casa de Migrante. “The life of humanity is always preparing the life of tomorrow.” Rev.
